Would you like to put your military experience to good use, sharing your passion for the outdoors to inspire and motivate young people?

.

We have a vacancy for a well-qualified and enthusiastic Contingent Commander to join and contribute to a very successful CCF Army Contingent at Sir Christopher Hatton Academy, as part of our Enrichment programme. Our Contingent was launched in September 2019 and has been a crucial element of school life for many of our pupils, offering them a broad range of challenging and exciting activities, as well as developing their character qualities.

As the Contingent Commander you will work as part of a team with our School Staff Instructor and other staff. The working pattern is one day per week (Tuesdays during term-time from 9.30am – 5.00pm), plus additional CCF camps, events and activities during the year. This will equate to a further 20 days throughout the year, including weekends, evenings, and during school holidays.

You will be responsible for making the CCF Contingent at Sir Christopher Hatton Academy an exciting and rewarding experience for all cadets and you will work towards growing the contingent year on year, inspiring more students to participate.

You will have a strong background, ideally as a commissioned officer, in the armed forces and/or MOD cadet forces with relevant experience working with the CCF,. You will be an effective communicator, ready to represent the school’s CCF contingent and will be able to engage, build links and foster relationships with internal and external stake holders.

You will also need plenty of organisational and management skills to ensure that the CCF programme at our academy continues to succeed in providing a rewarding experience for our students.

We would be happy to explore with applicants the possibility to undertake the additional role of Cover Supervisor at the school for between 1-4 days. This is a wonderful opportunity to work across the school community and support the learning of our students within the classroom. This is optional, and we would be happy to appoint the Contingent Commander on a one day per week with additional CCF camps, events and activities if this is preferred.

We think that our Academy is a great place to work. Don’t just take our word for it, here’s a direct quote from our last staff wellbeing survey: “This workplace is highly supportive, and the leadership have the best intentions to support you, and to do their best to help you grow. “

Here at Sir Christopher Hatton Academy we provide an education with character, encompassing our core values of Excellence, Aspiration, Achievement, Inspiration and Community to ensure that all our students are flourishing and prepared for the tests of life, not just a life of tests.
